free medical care to farms and communes.

camel to make this record of China. The film includes an interview with Chou
En-lai, as well as factory workers, doctors and commune leaders.

Tan-Zam Railway, built with the help of 14,000 Chinese workers.

period. He travelled extensively and returned with what is the most complete
professional film coverage of China that has been obtained by any Western
film-maker.

Revolution. Many aspects of Chinese life are covered: the people's communes,
the industrial cities and their workers, and scenes of the young Red Guards
journeying on foot to bring their knowledge to the peasants living in the
outlying regions of this vast country.

Film-maker Felix Greene examines the social changes effected since 1950 when the Chinese Communist Army entered Tibet to re-establish
control in what the Chinese considered their rightful territory.

We also have wonderful footage of Mao addressing rallies and puffing on cigars, of ecstatic crowds; schoolgirls waving their
Little Red Books; fireworks, floats, a packed Tienemann Square, and all the flamboyant paraphernalia that went with the public
parades of the 1960s. There is material too on the people's communes, the industrial cities and their workers, nurseries for
the children of working mothers, and young Red Guards journeying on foot to bring their message to the rural peasants. We
also have harrowing colour footage of a nuclear bomb test, in which animals are used to examine the effects of the blast.
